Details, details, details.
There is a lot of thought and love put into planning a wedding, most of which shines through in the details. The little touches you spend hours obsessing over. You hope your guests will notice. You hope they will appreciate it. You want to remember it all.
Don’t forget to let your wedding photographer know! Clue your photographer into what is important to you. While many experienced photographers know to look for the common special items (the rings, bouquet, invitation, etc.), you have to make your photographer aware if your first love note is tucked away in the groom’s coat pocket or if you have a schilling in your shoe.
Insider tip: Make a short list of the few special details you want photographed on your wedding day (you can put this as a reminder on your phone). Be sure to have those items on-hand on your wedding day. You can arrange them in a basket or on a table in your bridal suit. Then they are ready for the photographer to shoot as your getting dressed shots are being done. This way your details are captured before being put to use as you walk down the aisle.
5 Details You Want to Remember
These are really detail categories, to help spur your imagination on what you can incorporate into your wedding. You should make the decision on what is important to you as a couple. You’re only limited by your imagination!
Paper – This could be your wedding invitation, love notes, your vows (even better if they are handwritten), selected scripture, special poems, a fortune cookie fortune, table place cards, personalized napkins, a post card from your first trip as a couple, a ticket stub from your first concert or movie together. Anything goes!
Metal – The rings of course! Also wedding day jewelry, special heirloom pieces (broaches, hat pins, earrings, cufflinks, pocket watches, etc.), or even a lucky penny.
Greenery – Obviously your bouquet and bridal party flowers, the groomsmen’s boutonnieres, and even the landscape blooms from your location to show time of year. Floral centerpieces or arrangements on the pews or chairs are good to point out to your photographer.
Wardrobe – The dress, naturally. Then whatever else you are wearing, like your veil, garter, stockings, corset, or gloves. The groom’s details count too (tie or bowtie, shirt cuffs, jacket, vest, socks, pocket square). Any other accessories, like headbands, hair pieces, hats, canes, umbrellas, could be featured. Oh, don’t forget the shoes!
Hair & Makeup – Time for close ups of those last minute makeup details, like applying lipstick or mascara. Other final touches on the hair (flowers or placing the veil). Extra points for the Groom’s mustache or beard detailing.
What will you remember about your wedding day on your 25th wedding anniversary? Hopefully the wave of emotions, joy, and love. Will you remember your grandmother’s lace wrapping your bouquet? Or how your groom played with his dad’s pocket watch as he nervously waited for you to walk down the aisle?
You will, if there is a picture of it in your wedding album. Just one of those details to reflect upon.
